The Kuyahoora Valley Chamber of Commerce is a group of local business and civic leaders that have come together to form a local Chamber of Commerce. The chamber began meeting in September of 2006 and have held monthly meetings since. It is our goal to get all businesses that operate in the Kuyahoora Valley interested in joining. We consider our boundaries as Poland to Middleville including Newport, Ohio, Norway and Fairfield. Our primary corridor is Route 8 and 28.

Trout Power had its beginnings as an idea to generate awareness around the West Canada Creek to ensure its' long-term vitality for fishing and outdoor enthusiasts. Now Trout Power is growing into a full movement including a weekend Trout Tournament, Creel study, and family activities surrounding the Creek. Trout Power has already attracted many well-known fly fishermen, including Brian O'Keefe from Bend, Oregon.
There are tournament teams registered from as far away as Michigan, Virginia, Oregon, Delaware, and Ohio, as Trout Power is attracting attention across the country. Area businesses, communities, and individuals are realizing the potential as well. "Trout Power is all about working together to ensure the vitality of the West Canada Creek. The goal is to spur people to embrace this amazing resource for their own prosperity and economic impact throughout the communities that line its' banks" said founder, JP Ross.
Trout Power was founded by Ross of JP Ross Fly Rods and Co and partner Anglea Moonan, as both a weekend long event along the West Canada, as well as to shine a spotlight on the opportunities small and large businesses and individuals have in utilizing the river to ignite and sustain responsible tourism.
The weekend's events include the Trout Tournament & Creel study. In addition, there's a Friday evening gala with Brian O'Keefe with fly casting clinics at the Crystal Chandelier in Herkimer. There's also a 5K run starting at the school in Poland and ending with refreshments at Sweetie Pies Bakery; a kids Rubber ducky race Saturday morning in Barneveld, a Hoot N Nanny Dance Saturday evening, a TOwn of Russia Chicken BBQ, a 28 mile Yard Sale on Route 28 all weekend, and an Awards Ceremony open to the public on Sunday at Gems Along the Mohawk in Herkimer.
